MELINDA HEADRICK

Owner & Principal Designer

Melinda Headrick is a sought after designer serving highly discriminating clients who are looking for impeccable, turnkey design that integrates form, function and aesthetic to create a unique home that becomes their sanctuary.

What makes Melinda a celebrated partner is her ability to connect with clients on a deep, personal level and translate their conversations into a detailed vision that can be executed down to the most minute detail. The result is a curated masterpiece that seamlessly expresses the client’s unique personality and values while honoring the architecture of the home.

Having started her career 25 years ago in Tennessee working for an exclusive, luxury inn and commercial developer, Melinda learned the ropes of architecture and design-build early on and came to appreciate the importance of tight collaboration between architect, builder and designer. This insight became the foundation of Melinda’s philosophy and process, and today it is a major differentiator of our firm. Instead of working in a silo as many designers do, MHI locks arms with the entire team from the outset of the project – before the shovel hits the ground. By collaborating with the architect and builder, all the critical design decisions are made up front, giving the entire team – and the client –clear visibility to all elements and costs. The final result? A process that runs smoothly with a team moving in lock step to bring the client’s dreams to life. Some of our clients call it magic. We call it good business.

And for Melinda, good business is personal. Over decades, Melinda has designed every luxury residence with a guiding mantra that the home should be an expression of the people who live in it – not fads, cookie-cutter solutions or designers’ whims. She brings her full heart to each and every project, forming close personal relationships with her clients and fully absorbing not just their aesthetic preferences but also the rhythm of how they live. Melinda knows that how a space works – how it flows and functions – is just as important as how it looks. Blending these two priorities, Melinda’s greatest joy is enhancing her clients’ lives through the transformative power of design. For her, seeing a client’s face light up when they enter their finished home for the first time…well, it quite literally makes her heart soar. That’s why Melinda has never “worked” a day in her life.

Melinda is an extraordinary interior designer. She listens carefully to understand her customers' style. She then swiftly develops a plan incorporating this style with her own. She is knowledgeable, insightful, organized, practical, and a pleasure to work with throughout the process. Her communication style is open yet efficient, accounting for customers' busy schedules. The end product of her work is remarkable: beautiful, detail-oriented, and seemingly effortless. Our family recommends Melinda wholeheartedly. ~ David H.

“True luxury isn’t just how a space looks, it’s how it makes you feel and helps you live your best life.” Melinda Headrick

Oftentimes, MHI is hired and asked to assemble a team for the project. Based on factors such as style, budget, scheduling and expertise, introductions are made based on a discerning list of vetted professionals.

Other times, we join a team already established by the client, builder or architect. Once officially hired, Melinda dives in working as an interior architect to assure that the project is fully designed from the inside out.

Working from AutoCad plans, she oversees the spacial placement of all furnishings and foot traffic layouts, and offers suggestions for optimal functionality. She works with the client on all furnishings and finish selections. From there, her team builds a complete FF&E (furniture, fixture and equipment) package and offers a full set of drawings, elevations and schedules for the builder.

Her hands on approach throughout the life of the project leaves an indelible mark towards the success of the team.
